Through inexplicable architecture and irrefutable history, lies a place of might and power........ which remains ignored!
As always, it's a book that compels me to write and dissect, perhaps the literature buff and the rational nerd are best applied when fueled simultaneously. The fallen apple and the heliocentricity that were praised in school did not in fact elaborate on a shloka that spoke of gravitational force and Navagrahas. For the grandiose Roman democracy that was highlighted, no one spoke of the burgeoning civilizations of Hindustan. Not much anyway.
Why were the pyramids a source of wonder when the unrusted Iron pillar continued to stand tall? Why were Da Vinci and Michelangelo exalted for their art when the temples of Belur and Halebidu had more intricacy and delight? The crusades were religious conflicts of men yet pushed with the backdrop of more spiritual pursuits, but did you see the battles that my Narayana raised to rid the world of evil?
Is it documentation that makes the former a reality and the latter a tale from the past?
Why is the Matsya Vishnuroopam and the tale propounded as a fantasy when Noah's arc is treated as reality? Why is Ayurveda a science of the past and applied at best as a curiosity where allopathy is the preferred form of healing? Why are all the teachings of other religious scriptures the mainstay of their way of life and constantly harnessed when we choose to have meager knowledge of it with no particular interest in exploring that concept?
Have we really been so engrossed in being in awe of the splendor that was raging around, that we have forgotten our own achievements?
So many of us fail to rejoice in our culture, including me. The astounding facts that emerged from a series were enough to have me craving more. Did Srushruta know of the complexities tied to a surgery? Did they know about genetics? How did they calculate the distance between Earth and the Sun? What formulas did they apply to understand Earth's gravity? Did their knowledge of medicine exceed the paltry advances we celebrate? Will I ever be able to wade through this treasure which yields more as you dig through?
